WINSTON-SALEM, NC — With the On Tour Championship in full motion, all eyes are beginning to turn to the grand finale in Winston-Salem, NC.  The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is coming with a record 48 players.  This championship is more important than the previous as it not only includes a record number of participants, but will demand the most focus.

"This year brings the big city and warmer weather", said Rick Dosky.  "With so many entertainment possibilities and hot sun, it will be indeed difficult to keep focus for all 54-holes."

The tournament coordinators have inserted a Spackler Casino, Bowling, and full entertainment schedule for Saturday night.

Players like Big Kev, Munksgard, Davis, Marti, Flanagan, Spruill, Zavinski and OlaFowble are expected to attend. "Talk about diversity", said Mike Trojanowski. "We have young pups, middle aged men, and some guys that will be dead in 20 years.  That means all opportunities must be taken very seriously."

Don Crile, Jeff Cowan, Rob Fustich, and Joe Caridi sign from the Pittsburgh area while Billy Smalls, Fred Bessette, Jamie Myers, Chris Lashley, and Brandon Hunter represent the Raleigh area.

John Munksgard, last year?s Carl Spackler Outfit recipient, was quoted as saying, "I?m looking forward to this year?s rookies making the same mistake that I made last year by not taking the tournament seriously. I can?t wait to see one of them in either the Al Czvervic Outfit or the Carl Spackler Outfit if not both!"  He went on to state, "I?ve been dedicating myself to improving my game. I think everyone will be surprised at the results."

Carl Spackler himself is very enthusiastic about this year's major. "Its nice to be able to look at the great strides the event has made and get excited about the future. I think that I have been working on so many of the issues related to the competition, like Don Cook, Chris Goss and Bill Bateson failing to sign a letter of intent, that I can occasionally forget what an excellent event this truly is."

Greg Long, Chairman of the Spackler Open Captains Club, has been diligently putting together the final pieces of the championshp. Greg hinted, "I?m confident that we will exceed everyone?s expectations including the possibility of setting a bar for years to come."
