Dick Passes Ass to Chad

August 12, 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — It was difficult, but the 2004 Carl Spackler Open has another Horses Ass.  Chad Long took home the biggest disgrace of his life after proving he is "a true horses ass".

Chad was nominated by three specific members during the Winston-Salem week.  Glenn Hoffert and Andy Cohen nominated him first after his Thursday debacle and Steve Hoden nominated him on Saturday after his forgetful behavior.

Hoffert and Cohen delivered their nomination at the Awards Presentation.  "We were on Hole 4," says Hoffert.  "Chad was about 120 yards out and looking for his 9-iron.  He looked in his bag, while complaining repeatedly.  After about 5 minutes, he wanted to drive backwards through the course looking for the club."  Chad was reportedly seen and heard asking every player in the field as he continued to get more frustrated with each foursome he passed.

"Are you sure it is not in your bag," says Andy Cohen.  "I asked him because he was drunk and usually acts stupid."  After tracking backwards through the entire front nine, Chad returned to his ball without the club.  "I will just hit the wedge," said Chad as he went to his bag for the club.

"That was the moment I will never forget," said Hoffert.  "He went into the golf bag and found his 9-iron.  His grin was priceless."

The second nomination was done by Steve Hoden.  "We were on the tee box of Hole 6 on Saturday," says Hoden.  "We were waiting for the group in the fairway for a bit as Chad continued to drink.  After the guys hit their tee shots, we drove away towards our second shots."

The group approached their second shots, Chad exclaimed, "Where is my ball?"  The guys said they did not know.  Chad then dumb-foundedly said, "Did I ever tee up?"  The rest of the guys thought for a second and began laughing uncontrollably.  "I was pretty hilarous," said Hoden. "I have never even heard of something so hilarous."

Chad received the Horses Ass with grace from former owner John Dick of Warren, PA.  Chad brings the trophy home to Ohio where it sits proudly on his family room television set.
