MT. LAUREL, NJ — The Carl Spackler Open added a talented performer with the signing of Dean Spear of New Jersey to letter of intent on Friday. Dean will join a men?s golf program that has been on the brink of greatness and doubled in size once again. Spear is the 21st rookie to sign to play in the Open.

"We are thrilled that Spear has decided to make the quick drive to Barnesville," said Rick Dosky, Chief Financial Officer of the Captains Club.

Spear, a wonderful registry will add to an already talented field of rookies and boost the average age at the annual event. "Dean is about 195 pounds and he can reportedly hit the ball a long way", said Kyle Marti. "He is just short of spectacular when he gets a golf club in his hands."

"Spear has a lot of regional tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals", Dosky said. "It?s not hard to tell what a national championship atmosphere will do to his game."

Dean noted in his letter of intent, "I am not capable of shooting very low numbers because of my terrible short game, however I am just now hitting my stride as a competitor on the regional stage. I expect good things in June."
