Yuengling Meets Hagg

June 29, 2005

POTTSVILLE, PA — Mr. Yuengling did not know what to say.  He stood and just could not believe what he was seeing.  Dan Hagg had come to Pottsville and was standing before him.  "It was a chance of a lifetime," says Yuengling to himself.  "A chance to get a photograph with the legendary Dan Hagg."

Hagg summoned someone to take the photograph during the 5th Annual Carl Spackler Open tournament four weeks ago.

"I just was standing there and he came over and shook my hand," says Hagg.  "He wanted to share the pleasure of meeting me and asked me if I would not mind getting my picture taken.  It was the least I could do for one of my fans."

America's Oldest Brewery in Pottsville was the site of a 44 player brewery tour that started at 8:30AM on Thursday.  The end of the tour resulted in 44 taste beers.

"Mr. Yuengling signed my hat," says Kevin Long, Jr.  "I could have stayed at the brewery all day and worked for free. Now, if I can just get Hagg's signature."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 7-10, 2006 at undetermined location.  Several courses in several states including West Virginia, New York, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan are being researched, played, and quoted.  "Maryland is the only state in the 10 year rotation that is out of the current mix," says Greg Long.  "It is just not the right time."
