Voting for Venue

September 26, 2005

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Captains Club has sequestered itself and began considering one week ago with a 2006 Carl Spackler Open location announcement set for next Monday or the following Thursday.

The research and visits started back in May and visits begun 30 days later.  The group of 12 members have been working through the final details and began talks last week about the best venue for the expected field of 84 players.

Nominated venues include:

The Madison Club in Madison, PA www.themadisonclub.com

Old Silo Golf Club in Mount Sterling, KY www.oldsilo.com

The Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, MI www.legacybyarthurhills.com

"I am very happy with all the possibilities for consideration," says Chairman Greg Long.  "We have unique entertainment, fabulous golf courses, and ideal lodging arrangements."

"The Legacy has super conditions, Old Silo has incredible design, and the Madison Club is centralized to decrease travel time.  There is something in each for everyone, however we can only pick one for 2006."

The Captains Club is expected to finalize venue on Friday this week.  Then verify a few items on Monday before the announcement.

The tournament is set for June 7-10, 2006 and conservative estimates place the field at 84 players.
