Rules of Engagement

October 13, 2005

GROVE CITY, OH — The #1 tournament in amateur golf continues to grow and grow, while fees decrease and additional entertainment booms.  The financial department has created new "rules of engagement" in order to better align the collection and player signing processes.

"We are very excited about 2006 for many, many reasons," says an upbeat Mike Davis. "To dimish a need for a collections department, we have decided starting this year to put rules of engagement in place and let everyone control their Spackler destiny."

The Captains Club considers the following "Rules of Engagement" non-negotiable.  The "red hats" ask that players do not take them personally.

(1) Tournament will not discount for partial attendance.  Please do not ask today, May, or June.

(2) Roommates and foursome pairings are not guaranteed, however preferences will be accepted online.  We do not meet 5% of the preferences submitted online.

(3) Refunds due to weather are not guaranteed.  We will do what we can do.

(4) Non-refundable deposits are still in order. Cancellations are not as simple as replacing someone. If you cancel, do not expect your deposit back regardless of relationship. We cannot and will not treat you any different. The money will be given to charity or will pay for your bed.  It is not about the money, but using money to prevent extra unncessary work.

(5) If your non-refundable deposit arrives late, your check will be held, and you will not be considered into this year's tournament until your entire tournament fee arrives.  What's left of the bill collections office now assumes late deposits (even one day late) will be followed by additional late payments.  Player deposits will be returned if the player is not signed into the tournament field.

(6) All cancellations in May or June will increase the percentage of player tournament fee loss by 3 percent per day. For example, if you cancel on May 15, you lose the entire non-refundable deposit ($120) and 45% of the remaining tournament fee. The money is given to charity or pay your bed fee.  Replacing yourself is 10% of the additional work added to the Captains Club.

(7) Lastly, the full tournament fee will be required in 2007 for anyone that has a balance on May 1, 2006.  Those players will not be signed without full payment.

"Sounds like a really simple process," says Mike Davis.  "Unfortunately, we fully expect some unhappy people this year."

The new Poststats.com system will be setup with an automated email notification for existing balances.  The notification schedule will be defaulted, but can be modified within player administration.

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open has begun the budgeting process and plans to announce the tournament fee around Halloween.  The invitation will be available online through the new Poststats.com website.  The Red Zone Alert ends tomorrow.
