Your Turn!

October 20, 2005

CLAYTON, NC — The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to be played in less than 230 days. "It's your turn!  Time for everyone to start budgeting", says 2004 Scramble winner Mike Lewis. "Be assured that $120 will be due before January 3, 2006 and it is non-refundable. It appears the Captains Club is not playing games."

Lewis continued with his words of advice, "It is important to save a few dollars in your Christmas budgets. It is also important to gain the necessary kitchen passes.  Do not wait until the last minute."

Matt Davis followed up those profound statements with a little advice for whipped players. "Do not ask for permission. Tell your wife and family the truth. When you're leaving town and returning home. Our tournament will be a great opportunity, but will not be free and cannot tolerate the weak."

All players will be required to register through the Spackler Business Office by returning their annual letter of intent with a check. Invites are scheduled to be available online starting November 15, 2005.  Only registered players are permitted to sign.

January 3, 2006 will be the absolute deadline for tournament registration. The deadline has been established as a means for our department to count the number of serious players interested in this year?s major and for our office to make appropriate accommodations on January 5, 2006. Checks received after the deadline will be processed without the remaining tournament fee.  Full tournament fees arriving late will be accepted only in groups of four.

Jeff Miller and Jim English attended their first Open and vowed to return in 2006. With an energized smile, Lewis continued, "I cannot imagine anyone deciding to not return this year. It is the cheapest, entertaining, golf event on the planet. Then just add a little of Munksgard's Captain Morgan to help your swing."

The North Carolina venue is expected to sign 80 players.  The tournament field will be capped to not exceed more than 128 signees.

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2006 at The Neuse Golf Club near Raleigh, NC. The total cost of the tournament is estimated no higher than $350.
