Gumby Returns

December 14, 2005

WARREN, PA — Former Blueberry Hill Best Ball Mike Davis, whose golf game continues to fail him has guaranteed a return to the Carl Spackler Open in June. The announcement was made a few weeks ago.

"I have been having sweet dreams as of late," Davis said in an interview with Golfing Spackler magazine. "My game has let me down year after year, but it's always better to jump back up on that horse and try to put something together than quit."

A confident Gumby continued, "Some people have said, my complaints about game being absent of the long ball caused me to lose focus. Accepting my flaws has increased my confidence on what needs to happen in June."

Davis' tournament went downhill in Round 2 of 2004 when he hit 50 strokes on the front nine. Gumby slid from the Top 6 shortly after and never returned to form. The 2005 tournament carded his worst 3 rounds of the entire season.

"He has tried to analyze where it all went wrong but cannot figure it out," says Kevin Long, Jr. "He believes that no changes to his game were implemented, but maybe he was just trying to hard."

Mike Davis, known as Gumby, will be striving for his first Top 10 in 4 years. Gumby signs as the 5th player to the field. The 2006 Carl Spackler Open begins in 175 days in Clayton, NC.
