Tournament Notebook

June 4, 2009

LYNCHBURG, VA — The tournament notebook was released months ago within the website. The notebook has lots of general information regarding the 2009 Major Championship, which starts in a few days. Mike Trojanowski, winner of the 2002 Carl Spackler Open Championship and receipent of the 2001 Carl Spackler Outfit, took a moment to explain the advantages to being informed.

"Our website is all about providing information, setting expectations, and eliminating repeatable questions," said Trojanowski during a press conference. "The notebook and itinerary are available online."

The notebook is available off the homepage and can be printed. Click "NOTES" in the lower menu and select a topic in the drop down.

"Although 99% complete, the notebook is always being updated," says Trojanowski. "This has always been the general place to obtain information about our 96-hour golf party. I find lots of useful information in it. I am never officially packed until I cross off everything on the "DO NOT FORGET" list inside the notebook."

Notebook entries have dates of last update to ensure everyone is getting the most updated information.

The notebook provides expectations for the week in Amherst and Lynchburg. Specific tournament information, bus service, food, lodging, and contests are just some of the chapters available in the notebook.

"The notebook is also printable for the busy," added Trojanowski. "The really busy participants should print a copy and read it on the airplane or toilet. I do recommend reading everything before leaving town, but that is not always an option. Print a copy of the itinerary while your at it."

The general purpose of the tournament notebook is make the Carl Spackler Open run as if we have been going to Amherst, VA for 10 straight years. Our ability to obtain 88 knowledgable participants enhances the event.

"The most unnecessary statement continues to be one of the most common," says Trojanowski. "Nobody told me that."

There will be 88 Daily Pairing Sheets printed for Wednesday. There will be 13 sheets available at the Quality Inn front desk FOR GUYS NOT PARTICIPATING in the Wednesday practice round. There will be 75 sheets available at the Poplar Grove's practice range on Wednesday for golfers.

The 2009 Carl Spackler Open Championship starts Wednesday with the practice round. A introductory player meeting is scheduled for 7:30AM inside the Quality Inn meeting room.
