GXXIIII Planning Meeting Held

TERRA ALTA, WV — A group of Golfapalooza Board members met Sunday night to talk about planning for GXXIIII. After a cameo appearance by Uncle Mark on KGB's Zoom feed, the following was discussed:

Lodging - The Wilson cabin is reserved beginning Monday September 14 at 4:00 pm. The house up the road that we have reserved in the past is no longer available. It was sold sometime during the winter to a family that is living there on a permanent basis. As of now we are unable to book any rooms at the lodge because there is a wedding that weekend and they are in a block until mid-August. Our only option is to book a house near the pavilion where they have Oktoberfest every year. Two houses are available; one will be booked this week.

Golf - We have our normal tee times but Anne did follow through with her retirement as she said so we are dealing with a different person. Golf prices are based on the number of attendees with better pricing available around 24 guys. Beer prices in the pro shop still need to be negotiated along with whether they will work with us on ordering like they did in prior years.

Food - Due to COVID we are trying to limit our exposure to other guests and therefore are considering moving the post KGB banquet back to the cabin. Everything else is expected to be similar to prior years.

Shirts - This year's shirt color is brown with orange trim. Any praise or complaints on the colors can be directed to Whitey. It is highly likely that any extra apparel that is ordered will be shipped to you instead of bringing it to the cabin for distribution. You should plan for an extra $10 or so added to the cost of your order.

Because of all this, we are requesting that everyone register with their status as soon as possible. Final decisions will be made the week of August 10 based on meetings with Alpine staff and lodging decisions. As a result we need final commitments by August 10. We have been very lenient in the past with allowing late registrations; the flexibility to allow this will probably not exist this year.

Any questions can be directed to your favorite Board member.
