POTTSVILLE, PA — Casey Nelson easily won his first Kitchen Pass Award at the 2005 Carl Spackler Open, held at Mountain Valley in Mahanoy City, PA.  His victory was so complete, so unquestionable, so dominating, that none of the other nominations were even discussed at the Captains Club Meeting.

?I?m very impressed,? exclaimed Brian Flanagan, winner of the 2003 Kitchen Pass Award for flying to North Carolina after that year?s tournament, while his wife and kids drove.  ?This might go down in Spackler lore as the greatest Kitchen Pass ever earned.?

?He was telling me for weeks that his wife probably wouldn?t let him go.  Then, I received one of the most incredible emails I?ve ever read concerning this tournament,? said Greg Long, Chairman.  ?He told me that he thought that he sewed up his Kitchen Pass from his wife by getting some items at Victoria?s Secret, and that he went ahead and bought her a new house.  At that point, the competition was over.?

?Man, I sure hope my wife doesn?t hear about this,? added a worried Rick Dosky, CFO and winner of the 2004 Kitchen Pass Award for sending his wife flowers every day.  ?Flowers just don?t hold a candle to a house.  I?ve got my work cut out for me next year.?

No doubt about it, Casey Nelson?s Kitchen Pass Award had a tremendous impact on the field this year, and will put a lot of pressure on each player to attend next year?s tournament.  The question now is whether Rob Fustich or Jamie O'Donnell will earn a Kitchen Pass for the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship.
