Bob & Bol Commit

CANTON, MI — David Bol and Uncle Bob Jastrzebski have signed national letters of intent to return and play golf at the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship. Both Bob and Bol joined the tournament in February as a pair of Michigan participants.

Bol has an unknown past as he enters his second major. As part of the Rick Dosky family tree, he joins Spackler without a finance degree. His 6-foot 6-inch frame comes from the Sudanese-born basketball player Manute Bol side of the family.

"I am definitely attending the Open and am looking forward to it again this year," said Bol.

A reporter stood up and joked, "You look pretty tall. A towering structure like yourself has a heck of swing radius. I sure hope your ball flight goes straight."

Jastrzebski registers from just 18 minutes northwest of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in nearby Canton, MI. He secretly improved his stroke handicap to 44.

Uncle Bob, who owns and operates his own CAD/CAM company, caters to the auto industry in nearby Detroit. He was born and raised in Cleveland before moving to Michigan 15 years ago.

He proudly flies an Ohio State University flag on his property to offend his Michigan University neighbors. He usually plays golf for business, but rarely indulges himself in 18 holes. He has recently moved into his latest hobby of bee keeping.

David Bol fired 58 points in the final round of the 2007 Open Championship to surprise everyone except himself. He hopes to improve from his rookie year where he placed in a tie for 23rd. Bob Jastrzebski hopes to eliminate the 9's, 10's, and 11's from his scorecard in his second year. Bob carded twelve 9's, two 10's, and eight 11's in Michigan. He is jogging this winter in hopes of obtaining stamina in Peru. Bob shot 55-over par during Round 1. He returned Friday to shoot 64-over. With no remaining energy, Jastrzebski plunged again in the final round to card a 75-over par 147.

Bob, Sr. will be attending with his son, Bob, Jr., this year. The rookie joins the tournament field as a beer drinker. Chairman Greg Long remarked to Bob Sr., "Is your son ready for his post life this June?" [Bob Sr. laughs] Bob replied, "I think so. He should learn some things this year and be poised for his post Spackler life. He should be a perfect fit with his drinking behaviors." Long replied, "That sounds great. Maybe a pairing with my brother Kevin, Marty Zabonik, and Matt Davis."

Bob Jastrzebski, Sr. and David Bol sign as the 60th and 61st golfers to the tournament field. They also sign to represent the state of Michigan with Bob Jastrzebski, Jr..

The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 56 days. There is a mandatory player meeting scheduled for Thursday morning at 8:45AM. The second daily Tournament Pairing Sheet will be distributed at the meeting.
