Phase 1 of Options Available

March 23, 2022

PEORIA, IL — The Captains Club announced today that Phase 1 of Participant Options selection period is now open. The options will collect a variety of information ranging from communications to golf rules to roommate preferences.

“We need to reserve and structure the lodging at Stoney Creek,” said Chairman of Captains Club Greg Long. “We also must identify who is receiving our mass communications.”

The collection will include (1) verification of received emails and texts, (2) confirming an understanding of golf rules, (3) confirming senior tee information is accurate, (4) selection of roommate preferences, and (5) collect single occupancy room purchases.

“Lack of communication is not an option with 90+ people,” added along. “We must be able to communicate.” Both an automated email and text will be sent to everyone on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Golfers should expect it and those who don’t get both should be concerned.

Long continued, “We are also collecting roommate preferences from 96 people. Everyone is required to provide at least 5 preferences.” The computer will not allow less than 5 selections. Golfers are expected to rank them.

In addition, single occupancy rooms will be available for an additional charge. “This is your opportunity to reserve a single room at Stoney Creek,” said Long. “The participant option will automatically adjust your balance owed.”

The 2022 Carl Spackler Open will be held at Metamora Fields in Peoria, Illinois. The golf course is not expected to have white staked hazards nor contain Par 3 drop zones. The event will focus on four basic golf rules with two of them being part of Phase 1 participant option process. “We must have 100% agreement with 96 golfers of the rules,” said Long. “The Captains Club members will be actively involved in making sure everyone embraces four basic golf rules.”

The 21st Carl Spackler Open closed registration with a roster of 96 golfers from 19 different states. A waiting list exists to replace for golfers who cancel. Golfers wishing to be added to the waiting list are encouraged to contact us. The first phase of participant options planning period will be pushed through quickly. The push will be for all 96 golfers to complete options in less than 10 days.
