Ravenwood Lacks Interest

October 17, 2022

VICTOR, NY — The Captains Club announced Sunday it would accept silence from Ravenwood Golf Club, which is located southeast of Rochester, New York. Ravenwood Golf Club is an award-winning golf course in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York.

"Based on one month of silence to direct communications regarding availability, the Carl Spackler Open will relocate its efforts elsewhere for 2023," the event said in a statement.

Robin Nelson designed the course in 2002. He utilized the gently undulating landscape to seamlessly connect the holes to one another so that the whole golf course has a natural flow. The front nine is gentler than the back, where the par 3s present formidable tests. The water hazards on the back are particularly challenging. The golf course finishes with one of its most memorable holes. Ravenwood's par-5 18th has a green that's tucked into the woods with the hill behind it forming a natural amphitheater. A challenging array of seven strategically placed bunkers guards the green and approach area.

"Rochester and Buffalo, New York continue to be targeted to host a Carl Spackler Open," says Greg Garrett. "It's a beautiful part of the country that our event should visit when the time is right."

Ravenwood joins Conklin Players Club in New York as a golf course that has been silent throughout the summer and early fall. The 2023 Carl Spackler Open does not have a date or location. An announcement on date is expected before November.
