The Sextuple Bogey

April 25, 2007

BEXLEY, OH — David Lauerhass opened his 2007 golf season poorly this week at Turnberry Golf Course. The disappointing round of 54 points included 3 triple bogeys and a very unsexy sextuple bogey at the 7th hole.

"Not a good start for sure," said Lauerhass after his round. "I absolutely hate it when I shoot triple-digits. I see 99 and 100 strokes as the difference between golfing and hacking. A 32-over 104 is not the Lauerhass image that I am trying to get out."

Lauerhass did manage to salvage part of his round with 3 pars worth 15 points. He also scored 6 bogeys worth 18 points.

"Conditions and weather can always be a factor in April," says member Chad Long of the round. "Some guys can ignore conditions and some guys fold like a lawn chairs. I expect more from Dave, but my expectations do not seem to matter."

Rookie Allen Hench was asked for his impressions of the sextuple bogey at the 7th hole. "What is that? I have never heard of such a score." Lauerhass replied quickly in hopes of moving on. "The sextuple bogey comes after the quintuple bogey, which follows the quadruple bogey, which follows the triple bogey."

Hench replied, "Really. That is pretty cool. I need to get me some of those without the tuple-bogey part."

Lauderhass enters the Virtual Tournament as a rookie. Jason Ridgeway from Ohio leads the season-long event by a whopping 7.6 points per round.
