Riverfront in Virginia Eliminated

SUFFOLK, VA — The Captains Club continues its search for the host course for the 2022 Carl Spackler Open. The awesome Riverfront Golf Club was contacted and immediately ruled out for consideration.
Suffolk and Riverfront have indicated they are much too busy for our 320 rounds, said Chairman of the Captains Club Greg Long. We are not entirely surprised. Golf peaked during the pandemic and excellent golf course availability over 4 days is almost impossible to locate.
Riverfront Golf Club is located west of Virginia Beach,Virginia. Designer Tom Doak sculpted the beautiful layout to take full advantage of the natural beauty surrounding it. It is a magnificent waterfront golf design. Tees are typically at ground level, the fairways are generally wide and friendly and chipping areas are plentiful. Large deep bunkers, combined with undulating greens make shot-making crucial.
Its one of my favorite golf courses in America, says Greg Long. Its not going to work out in 2022, but we can always try again down the road.
The 2022 Carl Spackler Open does not have a date nor a location. The date is based on golf course selection. The practice round will likely be held on May 11, June 8, June 22, or July 13. The Captains Club continues to look for proposals.
