Event Date Announced

DUBLIN, OH — The Captains Club has announced their 2023 tournament calendar that will include registration, payment, and actual event dates for spectators and players alike. The Carl Spackler Open plans to host its 22nd version again in June.

"On behalf of the Captains Club, I am pleased to announce that our 22nd annual Carl Spackler Open will remain June 22-25,” said Matt Pritchard while delivering the news from regional headquarters. “We have slight change to our main event itinerary. The practice round will be held on Thursday and final round on Sunday.”

The date is four days after Fathers Day and one week before 4th of July weekend.

Pritchard continued to explain the date. "The event date could be temporarily, but it could be permanent too. We have not seen any interest from teachers. We also have tee time availability issues nationwide. The date is only as strong as golf course availability."

Pritchard cautioned that its not permanent. “We continue to evaluate June 22,” added Pritchard. “We also like April 15, June 8, and July 12. Date is something we love to make permanent, but also realize climates and other circumstances dictate our event date.”

There are reports that the enormous success in New Mexico and Illinois with included 5th night lodging is being evaluated as more permanent. Pritxhard was asked about it. “The Captains Club is definition leaning in that direction, but not yet ready to discuss that. It’s a big decision that will be decided when facilities and hotel rates are finalized.”

The Captains Club has scouted 15 states for a host location. The choice of venue and its location has has negotiated and reserved. An announcement regarding location, budget, and details is expected before November 30.

“We are also announcing important dates for all interested golfers,” added Matt Pritchard. “Registration will open December 1 and remain open until April 1, 2023.
