New Registrant Acceptance for 2023

PICKERINGTON, OH — The Carl Spackler Open made a large announcement today that its future rosters will be restructured entirely starting in 2023. The decision was made after Captains Club meetings and Greg Garrett was asked to make a general statement.

"The Carl Spackler Open reached the pinnacle for both size and success after 21 years," said Greg Garrett, Vice President of Tournament Scoring. "The demand to participate in Illinois reached levels higher than 100 golfers. Our success only increases further demand while tee time availability nationwide has been decreasing. The Captain’s Club has chosen a new proactive approach that addresses demand and builds rosters with availability for 40, 60, and 92 golfers."

The basics were outlined to the group. "The Captain’s Club unanimously voted for the Carl Spackler Open to remain a handicapped golf tournament with a large friendship component," said Garrett. "Future roster builds will be intentional and based on golfers who contribute to improving the Carl Spackler Open experience. The first attempt to build a roster will use your contributions until it reaches its maximum or final registration deadline."

A Roster Worksheet, which is a list of past participants, will be published in November 2022 and used to build our 2023 roster. It can be found both in the website notebook and inside the registration process.

"The Carl Spackler Open will continue to collect $150 deposits," said Garrett. "Deposits become non-refundable and non- transferrable on April 1, 2023. See registration or notebook for rules surrounding 2024 credits."

The entire new process has been published and available within the event notebook. It is also available via SNN on YouTube.com.
