Red Zone Violation!

LEE CENTER, NY — Not satisfied with his present number of children, Matt Mogel has planted the seed for a delivery in April 2010. "Surprised," said Captains Club member Kevin Long, Jr. "This is a major disappointment, but with congratulations written all over it."

The Mogel announcement will result in his absence from a Carl Spackler Open held in Texas. He becomes the first victim of "Red Zone Violation" season, which started in June and ended in mid-October.

"A Binghamton, NY selection would give me the home field advantage," says Mogel. "My attendance probability would increase tenfold."

Matt Mogel, a.k.a. Banner, is a 2-time member from Lee Center, NY. He placed 63rd last June in Virginia and 34th as a rookie in 2008.

"I wanted to let you know that I got myself in trouble with the Red Zone," said Mogel in a written statement. "I've been sitting on this news until the wife went to the doctor, but we are expecting a baby in April. I'm certainly on board for events outside April 2010, but this April is just bad timing for me."

The statement immediately alerted the Captains Club. "We certaintly have mixed emotions," said Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "I am glad he has made the right choice."

Mogel is the 5th big name to skip the Open Championship for a Red Zone Violation. He adds himself to a list of members that include Jay Dilks, Kevin Long, Jr., Jeff Tatum, Scott Miller, and Rob Fustich.

In other related event news, the proposed budgets for Laguna Vista and Binghamton were pinched last week. The Binghamton, NY golf trip fee with practice round is presently $417. The Texas golf trip with ground transportation and practice round is presently $399.

"The golf course in Binghamton is pretty awesome," says Greg Garrett and Vice President of Online Scoring. "It is nice to have multiple choices that force vendors to compete for our business."

The 2010 Carl Spackler Open will be held in Binghamton, NY or Laguna Vista, TX. There are 45 to 80 participants expected to attend. An announcement of venue has been pushed back another week for additional analysis.
