Jean Dore knows what it is like to lose. The 6-year member from Virginia finished dead last in the 2008 Virtual Tournament. Then he hurt his back in early 2010, but has since resurrected this summer and has control of the 2010 Virtual Tournament.

Dore has shot a 5-over 75, 10-over 85, and 6-over 81 in July. The latest round included 9 pars and 3 birdies. The monsterous round of 84 points propelled him into first place.

Critics have their doubts. "I am not impressed with the 5,800-yard golf course," says Pat Boland. "The short game looks very strong, but you would think Jean was 60 years old. He needs to move back."

The Dore July included just 5 double-bogeys and 2 triple-bogeys vs 47 birdies, pars, and bogeys.

"My back is much better and my game has finally resurfaced," said Dore of his July. "I am very pleased with how things are going this year. I like being on top and looking at everyone below."

Dore is in first place with 71.7 points per round. JT Thomas, Mike Hawley, and Pat Boland are chasing him.

In other news, twelve members of the Carl Spackler Open will play 36 holes in eastern Kentucky this weekend. The group will play the extremely unique Eagle Ridge at Yatesville State Park, which slopes 152 on the front nine.

"This is a very difficult golf course," says Greg Garrett. "You really need to place the ball out there. I would imagine we will see some very large numbers on the website by Monday morning."

Seven of those members will travel to the top of a mountain in a very elevated Prestonburg, KY. "The second round will be played on the top of a very tall mountain," says Greg Long. "The golf course was built after coal miners blasted off the top. It should be unique and fun."

There are roughly 60 days remaining before the cooler temperatures scare the vast majority of members away from golfing. There are 43 players on the Leaderboard with Virgina Beach's Jay Glover on bottom and Jean Dore on top.
