Casale Joins Field
January 13, 2006
SKILLMAN, NJ — Another Carl Spackler Open Championship member has gotten himself into the doghouse with the rest of the field for his comments about the Open this year, a inside source has learned. The AP reported early today that Nick Casale stated, "It'll be a cake walk at this year's tournament," a comment which has ruffled many feathers among the rest of the players.
Casale's media consultant, whom he hastily hired today, issued a second short statement to the press later in the day, backpedaling from his original statement. The Captains Club obtained a copy of his press release, which reads: "I'm sorry that my comments were taken out of context today. I certainly did not intend to imply that I would easily win the tournament; rather, my intention was to convey that the field of players cannot my physical abilities with the golf club."
"I'm not sure what to think, after all, he is from the big city of New York. Guys sometimes make statements that they later regret, and I hope that's all it was in this case," said back hills West Virginia member Scott Miller. "At first, I wasn't very happy, but he did try to clarify what he said even if it was more offensive. I'm OK with it, even if it's true because people like that usually end up in foursomes with Hevy Joes smelly butt."
Casale signs as the reigning Virtual Tournament Champion. The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship recently announced 2 openings in its field of players.
