The Worst Ever
January 16, 2006
STERLING, VA — Glenn Hoffert escaped the dreaded Carl Spackler Outfit last June. Probably due to the wake up call after Round 2 when he wore the Al Czverik Outfit.
Today, he signs to play in his 4th major championship in Clayton.
"The Czervick Outfit really wakes you up," says Hoffert. "I vow this will not happen to me again."
Statistics say otherwise. Hoffert's play has been so poor over the past 3 years, he was deemed the worst player in Spackler history after his debacle in June.
"I have been coming to Spackler for years to have fun. There is now a new focus. Having fun and watch your back. Maybe not your back, but your position on the leaderboard."
The Al Czverik Outfit was created as a reminder of the possible consequences of Carl Spackler Outfit. The Carl Spackler Outfit was created to ensure competitive golf remained throughout the week.
"You really cannot throw in the towel at Spackler," says former loser Tom McCauley. "The 2002 tournament was not a bright spot on my Spackler career."
"Glenn looked very good in Al's Outfit," says a jealous Andy Cohen. "I would wear that Outfit to work if I looked that good. It was a great tribute to the late man." Glenn arrived to the tournament averaging 22 bogeys and 10 pars over 54 holes. He finished with only 16 bogeys and only 5 pars in his 3rd major.
Hoffert returns as the 8th player to represent the state of Virginia, which is second to Ohio's 10 players. The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to begin in 143 days.
