VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A record-ninth player from the state of Virginia signed to participate in the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship. Make no mistake, Chris Hays is not just signed up to participate, but ready to make a claim for the 6th Golden Jacket.

"I'm ready to compete with the best," says Hays. "Spackler needs to reform its look and my face could very well do that."

Hays returns after posting horrible scores at his first major championship in Pottsville, PA.

Mike Davis agreed with Hays. "Hays brings some real presence to our event," said Captains Club member Mike Davis. "Hays, along with a very solid group of returnees, will hopefully help take Virginia home their first Golden Jacket."

The tournament history includes 3 jackets for Ohio, 1 jacket for New York and 1 jacket in a Pennsylvania closet.

The 2006 Carl Spackler Championship begins Round 1 play on June 8. Player preferences begin on February 15.
