HAVERTOWN, PA — Grady Walters may just claim ownership of The Neuse, a place that succumbed to his chips and putts back in early November.

G-Money has won nothing to date, but signs for his 3rd straight major championship, which some say is his turn to shine. "Grady has been relatively quiet for 2 years," says CEO of the tournament, Jamie Myers. "I expect him to emurge in Clayton."

"On this course, the way it's playing, it's not easy," Walters said of The Neuse, on which all tournament rounds will take place. "It's hard to be aggressive even if the point system awards aggressive play. These are some of the toughest pins I've ever seen on the south. It really boils down to knowing my strengths and picking apart the course in G-Money fashion."

Walters tends to not thrive on difficult courses, and The Neuse is not exactly difficult — which puts his game in striking distance of glory.

"I love the Spackler," Walters said. "I think absence is ignorance. Take away the steamy tournament conditions — if you just go out, have fun, and play your game, the entire week is hard to beat."

"I'm still a fresh 32, if that makes sense," Walters said, referring to his age. "I'm having fun. I'm still learning the game. Last year proved to me that what I'm doing works, and I think it is good enough to win if I do it well enough for three days."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open begins on June 8. Grady is the 41st golfer to sign for the Championship.
