DURHAM, NC — Vice President of Cuisine, Tom McCauley today announced the signing of Brandon Hunter of Durham, NC, to a national letter of intent during the signing period in late December. Brandon is the 4th player to sign and represent the state of North Carolina for this year's major championship.
"There are no excuses this year," says Hunter. "There will not be jet lag, car lag, or complaining about the June heat index. I plan to make a strong commitment this spring to getting ready for the tournament."
Brandon Hunter is the first player to sign from the Raleigh-Durham area. In fact, he breaks the record for the closest golfer to the venue in the tournament's six-year history. The record was previously held by Chris Goss in 2002.
"He better perform this year," says friend Jamie Myers. "The state of North Carolina needs some respect."
The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 114 days. Optional player payments are due in 2 weeks. Player preferences also begin in 2 weeks.
