Infectious Venue

CLAYTON, NC — The Neuse was selected to host the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship on June 8 by the Captains Club. The course currently has a large portfolio of high ratings including the Readers of Golf Digest.
The readers rank Mountain Valley and The Neuse as two of the Top 50 greatest values in America. The conditions in North Carolina only get better at Pinehurst #2.
"The combination of challenging golf and peaceful surroundings has proven infectious," says Captains Club member Mike Trojanowski. "The conditions are much more pure in 2006. No gimmics. Pure golf."
The course contains sensational rock outcroppings and rolling hills that twist and turn along the tree-lined banks of the Neuse River. It was built on rolling hills and its greens are well protected by large mounds or sand/grass bunkers. At least half of the tree-lined fairways are doglegs.
"Looking forward to less woods and wider fairways," says Mike Herron with his green hat. "I would suspect my game will come of age this June."
The 10th hole (posted photo) is a straight Par 5 between two very tall trees. It drops down into a valley and demands an uphill shot to the green.
The field of players continues to grow.
