Flanagan Reportedly Questionable
March 2, 2006
POWELL, OH — Brian Flanagan, scheduled as the 2nd Captains Club member in the history of the tournament to skip the exciting week, has reportly been reconsidering after news of Southwest Airline tickets being $80 one way plus tax.
Flanagan, a.k.a. Butter, has been weeping at the possibility of skipping the Open Championship and being categorized with Kevin Long, Jr., who skipped the Open in 2002.
A secretary at the business office confirmed the flight from Columbus leaves at 6:10AM and arrives in Raleigh at 9:55AM.
With one-spot left in the field, Flanagan has a lot of quick thinking and more importantly quick actions to consider.
Just last year, Tom McCauley withdrew in March due to stupidity. Then regained understanding of right and wrong and re-signed to play in the Open Championship. And play he did. McCauley was in the hunt in the final pairing (4th place) before playing his worst round of golf in months to finish the tournament.
The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 8. Golfer trip options and player preferences are scheduled to begin on March 8.
