Butkus Makes Move
April 4, 2006
GLEN ALLEN, VA — Member Joe Butkus made a move this week towards first position in the 2006 Virtual Tournament. He pushes himself to 37.2 points per round, which is only 0.2 points per round from the top spot.
"Scott's days on top is about to end," says Herron. "Joe has 10 rounds on the leaderboard and oldest is his worst. He needs about 28 points in his next round to take over."
Scott Zavinski continues to see his game fall apart in March and now April. "No credit to Butkus," says Matt Pritchard of Dublin, OH. "It is clear Zavinski is losing control."
Zavinski agrees. "My 20 point round on the 31st was frightening and seriously puts a damper on my average 10."
Butkus and Zavinski are the only two golfers playing above the targeted 35-point average. "Winter conditions and just hacking out there," says Pritchard. "Nobody except maybe McCauley is hitting their stroke handicap from January 1. Very good for me. Very bad for everyone else."
The 2006 Virtual Tournament has picked up going into Augusta National. The new scorecard entry system is expected to be a very popular tool in the coming months.
