21 Strokes in 2 Days

April 17, 2006

DUBLIN, OH — There is breaking 100, losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks and being in a zone. Matt Pritchard is the founder of 21 strokes in 2 days.

Pritchard played golf last Sunday at New Albany Links shooting 27-over par. He returned to the golf course 46 hours later. A date with John Cook's designed Cook's Creek in Ashville, OH. He opened with 7-over 43 strokes before tearing up the back nine shooting 1-under par 35.

"I have heard of Punia dropping 35 strokes in one week, but that is from 140 to 110," says Jason Ridgeway. "This would something else. He was below average on Sunday, skipped over average, and jumped into scratch just like that. That should whack his point for double bogey this June."

Pritchard has strugged for years with his consistency and things do not appear to be any different in 2006. Pritchard did loosen up during his replay round shooting an 11-over par 83. Matt jumped back to 98 strokes at Bent Tree on Easter Weekend.

The 54-point round at Cook's elevated him into 5th place in the Virtual Tournament.

"It might have something to do with good weather or playing partners," says Pritchard. "I tend to shoot relative to my partners. Sometimes that is bad and sometimes that is good."

In other news, Scott Zavinski continues to fall on the leaderboard. This time moving down another spot into 4th place. Jean Dore, Jay Glover and Trent Cooper of Virginia Beach have become idle since opening the season with one disaster after another. Glover has not been seen on the course since his stroke shaving scandal.
