Ready, Aim, FIRE!

CLAYTON, NC — As one would expect with a Major Golf Tournament, there will be considerable Pageantry on display in the skills competition. In an effort to level the playing field while speeding the duration of the skills challenge, another major change has been announced with the Closest to the Pin Competition.
As opposed to previous years' Closest to Pin competitions, the 2006 event promises to be a more expeditious process yet it looses none of its attraction. Each golfer will still be faced with the same pressure of hitting their ball in front of there peers BUT there is a bit of a twist this year.
Instead of hitting two shots by yourself, each golfer will get a single shot and will hit in groups of 8. Each golfer will be provided a ball with their identification on it. The golfers will be called out and lined up for their stroke. A countdown will sounded off and all 8 will swing together.
After all 8 shifts have completed their attempts, the winner will be announced. Yes, balls will be moved by other shots. Yes, it is completely within the rules to knock a ball away from the hole or closer to the hole with your shot. Think of the competition as a combination of the Great Sport of Curling meets Darts at your favorite Tavern. All of this with the magic of a golf club and the companionship of your best friends mocking you.
The Captain’s Club is viewing each round as an “8 Gun Salute” in honor of Golfers past and present. The Captain’s Club also encourages you to start practicing 125 yard shots from the fairway while others in your foursome provide distractions.
