ORLANDO, FL — Mike Trojanowski, known fondly to us as Troj, recently vacationed in Florida with his daughter. Unfortunately, Troj forgot that Florida is known as the Sunshine State.

Why unfortunate? Troj traveled without his Carl Spackler Open hat, or should I say hats. “He has no excuse! This guy has every hat coveted by the field,” stated Jason Watson.  It is true. Mike has the Red for the Captains Club, the Green for being Carl and the most desired Gold for being a past Champion.

Still yet, why unfortunate? “The guys head was as red as that hat he should have been wearing,” stated Greg Garrett. “I never leave home without mine”. It is reported that Troj walked around Disney for a full day without his lid. Thus, the harmful UV rays of the sun penetrated to his scalp causing severe damage.

Matthew Boland, a physician in the US Navy, warned… ”All players should wear protective clothing at the tournament, regardless of the weather forecast. Sun damage can occur on cloudy days as the rays are enhanced by the precipitation in the cloud coverage.” He recommended a high UV rated sunscreen and to drink a lot of fluids as to guard against dehydration.

Brian Long, Captains Club member laughed, “Dehydration? Please, I’ll be drinking a lot of fluids. I heard about the Jumbo. That is several ounces right there.”

All field members are encouraged and requested to bring their Carl Spackler Hats to the tournament. “It would be nice for people to wear them for at least the group photo,” stated Greg Long. You can also find a list of other items you should bring on the “Do Not Forget” listing within the Event Notebook.
