Brent Fires 2 Points
March 25, 2003
WATERLOO, IL — Golfapalooza Founding Father Gus Sokos announced that the On Tour Championship has officially begun on Saturday, March 1, 2003. ?We were really excited to get the ball rolling back on March 1st for the On Tour Championship. Hopefully, all this freakin? snow that has melted will not return,? said Sokos. ?I hope we all get an opportunity to get the cobwebs worked out soon,? added Don ?Spanky? McFarland.
As the On Tour Championship begins, players are reminded that three rounds of recorded golf (54 holes) is the minimum number required to participate in the On Tour Championship. The leaderboard has been cleared with 2002 information and ready to go.
Regular followers of the website remember that Slick is the first player to usually get the clubs out and start playing. He tried, but was beat to the punch when Brent Kaniecki fired 22 points back on March 17. Brent's round started fine, but he scored only 2 points on the back nine. ?I?m hoping that starting early will allow me to get a quick jump on the rest of the field and set a good example. The thing that worries me though is that I?ve heard that some guys have not been out to the practice range siting "too cold".
Slick returned from the winter layoff to fire two opening rounds of 82 and 81 respectively on March 24th. "My putting and short iron play is not yet ready for Golfapalooza, but make no mistake about it; I will be ready in September", said Slick. With the Carl Spackler Open in just 79 days, Slick has begun his quest to win the Grand Slam.
