Best Pictures Awarded

August 7, 2006

CLAYTON, NC — The 2006 Best Picture was decided by a group vote this past July. A vote that represented photographs from the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship. There were 5 participants gunning for first prize and 12 votes submitted.

Jim English turned in photos of the Flying Saucer while Jay Glover turned in a couple of photos throughout the week. Mike Herron captured some moments at the Awards Presentation and Jason Ridgeway poured in many photos from the Party Bus. Greg Long entered his set of photographs from the Skills Challenge, the past Carl Spackler's and course approach shots.

"The 12 votes submitted clearly state the obvious," said Matt Davis, Vice President of Contests and Bag Storage. "The pictures from the Party Bus are indeed the best of the week. With 76% of the 1st place votes, Jason Ridgeway adds to his tournament skin winnings with $150 good towards the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship.

"It was not money in the bank, but Robby Fustich and the keg stands gave me quite an early edge," says Ridgeway. "Not winning would have required another poop accident."

With plenty of votes, the pictures from Jim English at the Flying Saucer drew 2nd place and $75 towards the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship. The Flying Saucer drew 24% of the 1st place votes. "The waitress is what did it for me," says Jim English. "She was really nice about showing me her ass."

The rest of the photographs were evenly spread with votes. "There technically is a 3rd place, but 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places were all very close," said Matt Davis. "Thank god we did not have a 3rd place prize."

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins in 303 days. Invitations will be traditionally available on November 15. The tournament venue will be announced in 8 or 9 weeks.
