Texas Stardom

HOUSTON, TX — Jason Watson is officially part of the Texas population and part of the Golfapalooza's 60+ club. The first official round in his new stomping ground gives reason for a new golf life.
Watson played Cyprus Lakes Golf Club on Friday shooting 12-over par and 63 points including 6 pars and 12 bogeys while racking up 15 bonus points for the 7,000-yard course.
"Very nice start," said Watson after his round. "It was a pure round of golf that really generated a lot of early Texas confidence."
Watson moved to Texas early last week from Dublin, OH. He plans to represent the state with additional dominance.
"That is a big number," said Brent Kaniecki of his 63 point effort. "I am going to wait for a few more scorecards before making a negative comment about Texas or Watson."
The round extends the Watson lead with 46.5 points per round. The 12-over par was the lowest strokes since August 2001 when Oakhaven Golf Course was brought to its knees.
In other news, J.T. Thomas continues with his increased point production over the past 3 seasons. He holds 2nd position in the season-long 2006 Virtual Tournament.
