Greenskeeping with Fuzzy
August 28, 2006
SELLARSBURG, IN — As the Carl Spackler Open continues to gather additional national presence, Fuzzy Zoeller stopped by to provide support and question the negative appearance of Carl Spackler on a golf course.
"Carl, how the heck are you?" Fuzzy said. A group of media quickly showed up to capture the moment. Fuzzy mumbled under a deep drink of Miller Lite. "What are doing on my golf course? Did you see a gopher? I want you to kill all the gophers on the golf course."
Carl replied, "Correct me if I'm wrong Fuzzy, but if I kill all the golfers they'll lock me up and throw away the key."
The fans laughed as the crowd continued to grow in anticipation of the next laugh.
"Fuzzy turned toward Carl, pushed him away and said with a laugh, "Not golfers, you great fool. Gophers. The little brown furry rodents tearing up Covered Bridge."
Carl Spackler looked at member Tom McCauley for advice and said, "We can do that. We don't even need a reason. I just need to find some."
Fuzzy departed so the tee box could clear and quiet down for play. He teed up moments later and laced one 285 yards down the left side of the fairway.
"It was clear to everyone that Fuzzy is a much better golfer than Ty Webb," said Captains Club member Tom McCauley. "Zoeller understands the importance of Virtual Tournament involvement and expects zero points for par."
Carl Spackler continues to meet several celebrities during the offseason including Lacey Underall, Tin Cup and Masters Champion Fuzzy Zoeller.
