Milam Scores 45
August 17, 2006
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Chris Milam is a man outside his comfort zone and watching his game fall like water at Niagara Falls. A man on a mission and hundreds of miles from home on a golf course that fought back. With everything against him, Milam gave back only 19 strokes to par and poured in 45 points.
The round at Cypress Point Country Club near Virginia Beach is generally wide open, but with lots of water. Milam's 19-over par round included 10-over on the front nine and 10 strokes on Hole 2.
"A pretty good start if you are the kinda guy that likes to play Monday morning quarterback," said Milam. "A par on the 2nd hole gives me an impressive 5-over on the front."
Milam had much more to say, "My season has been very poor. It has been one bad shot after another and this really gives me some confidence. Indeed, a good day at the office."
The impressive back nine was pretty boring and much different than the front nine. Milam carded 9-straight bogeys worth 18 points.
"Looks pretty good," said Scott Miller from Parkersburg, WV. "I am very surprised considering the jing-weed rough that grows in August down there. He must have impressed everyone in view."
Milam's round nearly doubles anything posted this season. He jumps out of the near cellar, 55th position, and into 46th for the Virtual Tournament.
