Ruthie to Erase 111
May 2, 2003
PITTSBURGH, PA — The On Tour Championship continues to press on with Brian Long (i.e. Ruthie) unsatisfied with his subpar performance. Not just subpar, but a three digit 111, which he hasn't seen in many, many years. Ruthie finished his first round of the season at Blacklick Woods outside Columbus scoring 30 NOOG points.
"I am a little disappointed about the way I played, but I also realize it was a tough course," said Ruthie. "39-over par is not where I want to be. That state park was tough. I need to hit more pure shots and less strokes. Especially when I'm with family."
"I am a self-motivated player and I have good things to build on for this Open Championship in June," Ruthie continued. "I think there is always a good shot to win with NOOG point sweepstakes."
Ruthie is traveling this Saturday to Belle Vernon, OH to play 36 hole marathon with brother Greg and Kyle Marti. The threesome is playing Cedarbrook Red in the morning and Cedarbrook Gold in the afternoon before returning home in the evening.
