Severe Hacking
September 18, 2006
RICHMOND, VA — Scott Mealey introduced severe hacking into the 2006 Virtual Tournament last week with posted rounds in both Florida and Virginia before returning home for some rest.
"Things have not gone the way I might have hoped this year," said Mealey. "Fortunately this type of hacking will result in an upgraded handicap in early January."
Mealey's latest round was played outside Richmond, VA at Queenfield Plantation. The 5,800-yard design pushed Scott into several penalty shots and 42-over par worth just 19 points.
"Shooting 3 quadruple-bogeys and 6 triple-bogeys is not my idea of 9 productive holes," added Mealey. "My lone birdie at Hole 14 saved a 13-point effort."
The Queenfield Plantation round with poor slope rating bumped the disappointing round from 42-over par to a handicapped 50-over par by USGA standards.
"We appreciate his efforts last week and plan to equip him with additional Poststats Points," said Brian Long, Vice President of Scoring. "This should position him for a wonderful 2007 season."
The 3 rounds inserted Mealey into the caboose or 59th position in the Virtual Tournament well behind Jean Dore and Jay Glover of Virginia Beach. The 59th position includes 23.7 points per round.
