Lewis Raises Outlook

January 1, 2007

WARREN, PA — Mike Lewis, a.k.a. Digger, has signed again to compete in Michigan's installment of the Carl Spackler Open. Lewis signs as the first player to represent the state of Pennsylvania. He is the first golfer to pay in full with his check for $348.00.

"Get busy living or get busy dying", said Lewis from his funeral home in Warren, PA. "It is an honor to return. Michigan has unlimited entertainment and would be stupid to pass this up."

The surprise-Lewis-signing raises the outlook for overall participation after the Creighton announcement to skip. The overall attendance was elevated to 64-72 golfers. "Lewis is a commodity," says Kevin Long, Jr. "When big names sign, you can assume others will follow suit. Mike Lewis is as big as you get."

He enters his third Championship after skipping the 2006 tournament. Lewis posted 205-over par 421 during his last tournament at Mountain Valley. The three rounds were good for 52nd position on the handicapped Tournament Leaderboard.

Digger is expected to receive 3 points for triple bogey this June. "What? This is ridiculous," said senior member Jon Munksgard after hearing the handicap projection. "He stinks, but he is not that bad." Munksgard toned things down after hearing about the new target of 60 points and his probable 2 or 3 points for triple bogey.

Mike's history includes a part of the winning 4-man Scramble team at Tanglewood Park.

He is the 11th player to sign for the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship. The final field is expected to be announced soon.
