Zavinski Wins Championship
October 16, 2006
GLEN ALLEN, VA — Scott Zavinski, a.k.a. Z, won the Employee Club Championship at the Crossings two weeks ago in Glen Allen, VA. The win is Zavinski's first golf victory of his long career; a victory over some controversial opponents.
"It was great," says Z. "I played well and beat up our most experienced employees, which is always nice."
The Employee Championship was a match play event with 32 participants.
Zavinski won 5-consecutive matches to the win the championship. He won the first match 4&2 against a 81-year old retired marshall. He won the next two matches 2&1 against a groundsman and beverage cart girl. He controlled the championship match before winning 3&2 against the 68-year old starter.
Zavinski took advantage with his distance off the tee. The 230-yard drives were bombs in comparison to the aged competition. "There is a difference between an approach shot with 9 iron or wedge and 3 or 5 wood required by my opponents," says Zavinski. "These older guys and chicks had no chance against me."
In other news, Joe Butkus, who also is a marshall at Crossings, withdrew from the tournament citing his vagina hurt. Mike Herron, who quit golf months ago, just hopped out of temporary retirement this past weekend for a round at The Crossings.
Scott Zavinski continues to hold second position in the 2006 Virtual Tournament with 50.3 points per round.
