One Great Par
November 13, 2006
HILLIARD, OH — Greg Garrett submitted a disappointing 21-over par 93 last week at Cooks Creek Golf Club. The 4 1/2 star golf course took care of business by shutting Garrett down most of the day. Garrett sucked it up and closed nicely to finish the year in style.
Garrett closed with a par at the extremely difficult par 4 18th hole. The 474-yard uphill monster includes water through the first 175 yards. Then down the left and right sides of the fairway with two large bunkers in front of the green.
"Cooks Creek is one of the hardest holes in Ohio," says partner Chris Philipsen. "It plays every bit of 490 yards when you consider elevation. A par is simply impossible for most golfers."
Garrett poured in 5 double bogeys and a single triple bogey during the round. The par at final hole was just his 4th par of the day.
"I played OK today," said Garrett after his round. "Although I would have liked to break 90 today, it was all-in-all a good round."
Garrett's 32-point effort moved him into 31st position with the Virtual Tournament. Partner Chris Philpsen also scored 32 points, however won the battle 1-stroke victory with just 20-over par.
