Reigning Spackler Signs

December 6, 2006

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Jay Glover, the 63rd-ranked player by tournament officials, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the 2007 Carl Spackler Open, Captains Club member Rick Dosky announced on Thursday. He will enroll his event options online this March and hopefully embark in the removal of his banana slice.

A resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jay holds 59th position in the 2006 Virtual Tournament. The 2nd to last place position is one spot higher than he placed in Raleigh to capture his first outfit.

"With the recent trend of the top players skipping amateur status for the professional tours, we are very excited to sign Glover," Dosky said. "He is exactly what every tournament looks for in a player. Those qualities include straight-A student of the game, All-American golf resume, loves to compete and win and fully committed to tournament."

Glover, a.k.a. Bootsy, signs as the first player to represent the state of Virginia. He signs with full expectations of acquiring a ton of Poststats Points including points for bogey.

"I guess I should start using that swing machine I “won” last year," said Glover in a written statement. "Especially since I have only played three times since the tournament. I do miss how good I use to be 2 years ago, not sure what broke."

Bootsy is the only player in Spackler history to consistently hit the driver 300+ yards. The 200 yard length accompanied with the 100-yard banana slice ensured the Largest Slice Award would be Booty's property throughout the off-season. The "Inside Approach" swing tool is designed to remove the slice from a golfers tool chest. Bootsy won the Award last June in Raleigh without argument.

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship continues to expect 60-74 golfers to sign prior to the December 28 deadline. Rick Dosky's mailbox is expected to become very busy in a couple of weeks.
