Eagle Lands at Darby
May 23, 2003
MARYSVILLE, OH — Scott Miller regards Chad Long as the man to beat as the Ohioan chases a first victory in his first appearance at the Carl Spackler event. Chad Long shot his first career eagle at Darby Creek on Thursday night.
Chad started by hitting driver down the middle of the fairway. His second shot landed short of the green, bounced twice in the bunker, shot out the back side of the bunker and onto the green. Not just on the green, but 10 feet from the hole. Chad then sank the left to right putt for his 11 point eagle.
"Even with an eagle, I really just haven't played well enough to win. For the stableford play, it's kind of a different feel," Chad said. "I really want to feel like I can win and that's why I'm playing at Darby Creek."
Slick played nine holes at Darby Creek and carded 3 birdies on the first half. "I'm playing better, but not consistent and I'm looking forward this weekend. I feel very confident at Darby Creek," he said.
The Carl Spackler Open begins play in 19 days. The field of players has risen to 31 players and is ready for an exciting weekend.
