Jersey Boy Casale Signs

December 18, 2006

SKILLMAN, NJ — The Carl Spackler Open added a talented performer with the signing of Nick Casale to letter of intent last week. He will join a men's golf program that has been on the brink of greatness and quadrupled in size since 2002. Nick, winner of nothing so far, is the 5th member to sign to play in the Open Championship.

"We are thrilled that Nick has decided to enter the tournament in Jackson," said Kevin Long, Jr. "Hopefully, he can hit a grandslam like he did in his rookie year instead of 29th place after his trip to Raleigh."

Casale, the 1st registry to represent New Jersey will add to an already talented field for the 7th annual Carl Spackler Open. Nick won the 2005 Virtual Tournament after exposing himself to the jam-packed field.

"Nick has a lot of regional tournament experience and has a very solid foundation of fundamentals," Kevin Long, Jr. said. "It's clear from last year what a national championship atmosphere will do to his game. I expect him to make the appropriate adjustments and contend this year."

Casale noted in his letter of intent, "I am not a long hitter and capable of shooting very low numbers. Although I did not play as much last year, I have a terrific short game and am just now hitting my stride as a competitor on the regional stage."

The 2007 Carl Spackler Open registration ends in 11 days.
