NEW YORK, NY — Don Creighton, Vice President of Player Transportation, will skip the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship for graduation plans in Boston, MA, his agent said Wednesday.

"It is doing what is important," Creighton said. "My girlfriend is graduating from Harvard on June 7 and will be in Boston for the weekend."   The news, although stunning, slows Don's momentum as he tries to win his first Golden Jacket.

Don Creighton, a.k.a. Escabar, placed 42nd in the 2004 Carl Spackler Open at Tanglewood Park. He scored poorly over 3 rounds of play. Creighton is currently ranked 25th in the overall amateur rankings out of 29 senior members. Matt Pritchard stole the Crapper Award from Glenn Hoffert and Creighton last June with very very poor play.

Creighton history also includes the management of the player transportation for the Captains Club," said Greg Long, Chairman of the club. "We must move on and hopefully fill the void left by Donny." Escabar nearly won the MVP in Raleigh after managing the daily Party Bus to/from the golf course and Clarion Hotel.

"He's sick about missing the Spackler," the report said. "He played terrible almost every year while keeping his composure and having a great time. Don has always been good for the tournament."

Creighton was playing better in 2005, with superb control off the tee. Bad things returned in Raleigh. "When he's playing well, Creighton can compete," Greg Long said. "Off the course, he is quite a leader and role model for the kids with the exception of the smoking, drinking and wild nights with the ladies."

In 2001, Escabar nearly wore the Carl Spackler Open in Myrtle Beach. Mike Trojanowski missed a 3-foot putt on the 72nd hole to lose the 3-day inaugural tournament. Creighton never surfaced as a contender including a poor 61st position in a field of 63 just last year in Raleigh.

The tournament registration deadline is December 28. Checks must be mailed to Rick Dosky in order to guarantee a spot in the field.
