Mean Jean

CHESAPEAKE, VA — Jean "Smokey" Dore has signed the appropriate paperwork and has registered for his 3rd straight Open Championship. The 22nd signing of the tournament continues to make the field stronger.
"No one really believes me," Dore said from his home in Chesapeake, where he continues to work with swing coach. "Now that I have officially stumbled through the 2006 Virtual Tournament, it has been one of my dreams to win a Golden Jacket, and I want to go through with it. I definitely want to make the right commitments to win this thing and getting more points is a start."
Jean Dore placed 61st in a field of 61 during the Virtual Tournament, which completed just last month. With the exception of the final round, Jean played very poorly in his last tournament. Dore roared up the leaderboard after his 2-birdie 8-par final round. The incredible round was the 5th best round of the tournament.
"Dore is one of those smartasses," said buddy Jay Glover. "When I play horrible, he tells me that I stink. He tells me to suck it up and shoot pars. That is not always what I want to hear, but he does know what he is talking about. I think his successes can be attributed to the similar demands he puts on himself."
The 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 7. The tournament options will be available on March 8. Golfers should expect selections to take approximately 15-20 minutes.
