JACKSON, MI — The Captains Club has been actively promoting its 7th Major Championship scheduled for June 2007. The Captains Club reiterated the plans for go kart races as one of many optional activities to be explored tournament week.

"Brooklyn is a national race town," said Kevin Long, Jr.. "Victory Lane Speedway presents us with a wonderful very local opportunity. We are looking forward to crowning a champion in both golf and go karts."

The Captains Club plans to acquire group interest in March and rent the entire speedway by the hour. The facility includes a 1/4 mile track and 16 rental karts. The races will be managed by its members using a bracket.

The optional activity will be held on Saturday morning to curb drinking and driving. "The itinerary is going to be tight all week," says Kevin Long, Jr.. "This is our opportunity to insert activites that provide much wanted fun time and camaraderie while decreasing golfer fees with afternoon tee times."

Victory Lane Speedway is very local and requiring a 5-minute walk and 15-second drive from the Super 8 Motel.

"The exact price of the optional go kart experience is still unofficial," said Long. "We are setting an initial fee at $18.00 per golfer. We plan to update this number on April 9, which is the deadline for selections."

The initial consideration of 16 karts for 60 minutes would result in 960 minutes of race time. A base assumption of 32 golfers would provide 30 minutes of kart time per golfer.

"It really boils down to the group interest," says Long. "We might get 20 guys and might get 50 guys. Our group interest greatly effects rental time, but probably not individual kart time."

The track will be rented starting at 8:00AM. A lack of interest may or may not move Final Round tee times. Poor weather will result in golfer accounts will be credited a 100 percent refund.

The sign-up for Victory Lane Speedway begins March 8. The designated halfway point for remaining balances to be paid is March 1. Golfers may send checks of any amount to Rick Dosky today.
