Sabat Enters Field
March 12, 2007
CLARENDON, PA — John Sabat, Jr. entered the field of players back in December. He plans to participate in the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship in southern Michigan.
Jon Munksgard accompanied Sabat to his unattended coming out party, where they announced from his garage his attentions to participate in Michigan.
"I have a great desire to take part in the 2007 Carl Spackler Open," said Sabat to an empty driveway of fan support. "Jon Munksgard talks about the tournament all the time and it sounds like a lot of fun. Just from what I have read on the web site it sounds like this year will be the same. It sound like the championship is a very organized event."
The lack of fan fair gives Sabat a "nothing to lose" attitude, which is always something a rookie could use.
Sabat opens the 2007 Virtual Tournament with a 10.2 stroke handicap. He posted a career best 5-over 77 at Jackson Valley Country Club last July. His golf game took a blow in September when his scorecard bounced upward to record a 17-over 89 at tighter Pine Acres Country Club.
"He is pretty good at Jackson Valley," says Jon Munksgard. "Hopefully, he can do what few can do. He can transfer his Jackson success to Jackson, Michigan."
John Sabat is the 44th player to sign for the 7th annual major championship. All tournament options are currently available for selection until April 8. Some non-financial options will be available after April 9 for modification.
