GLEN ALLEN, VA — The 2007 Virtual Tournament is officially underway with 4 golfers registering scorecards during the cold winter months. 3-year member Joe Butkus has surfaced as the tournament leader, but on a very very tight Leaderboard.

"The new point system is looking very good right now," says Brian Long. "The 60-point average is making things very competitive."

Butkus has the lead as the only golfer above the 60-point target. His 6-round average of 61.2 points is enough for first position. Butkus' worst round was his latest, where he scored just 54 points on February 24.

Jason Watson, winner of 2006 Virtual Tournament, has held his handicap during the winter months with 59.5 points per round. His second position impresses most of the Carl Spackler Open.

"Things are going very well," says Watson. "I am even impressed. Four winter rounds under bogey golf. Hopefully, the scores only decrease through spring."

Scott Zavinski has posted 9 rounds already and holds 3rd position with 59.1 points per round. Jerry Long of Austin, TX has posted 5 rounds and holds last position with 57.0 points per round.

"My opening round of 39 points was very disappointing," says Long. "That kind of round is killing my average and position on the Leaderboard."

Rookie Brad Green of Houston, TX posted his first scorecard last week at Windrose Golf Club. He opened with 62 points, which is a great start when you consider the 7,200 yards.

The 2007 Virtual Tournament will complete its second month this week. Scorecards are expected to pick up in March with a great onslaught of cards to begin in April.
