California & Illinois Added
April 20, 2007
JACKSON, MI — Matt Boland and Bob Morris have signed to play golf at the 2007 Carl Spackler Open Championship. Boland will represent the state of California and Morris will sole representation from Illinois.
"It is great to be back once again," says Bob Morris. "I really was starting to worry about getting back to compete in the prestigious Carl Spackler Open. It would be a dream to return with the Golden Jacket."
A Chicago native, Bob has lived in Arizona, California, New York, Connecticut, Florida, back to California, back to Illinois, over the last decade. He brings one of the hardest swingers "on tour" as his religion does not permit woods.
Morris has struggled considerably at the Carl Spackler Open. He finished with a tie for 42nd position at Mountain Valley. "His rookie season was riddled with disappointment," says buddy Pat Boland. "Last year was not much better." Morris finished in 55th position at the Neuse and presently 32nd of 38 golfers with at least 2 complete tournaments.
Matt Boland returns after his rookie season and 59th position. "This is a great event," says Matt Boland. "I have loaded up my handicap and ready to make a statement in Michigan. Looking forward to acquiring the Golden Jacket."
Boland, a.k.a. Doctor Bonehead, was asked if he planned to bring his medical tackle box to Michigan. "Everyone needs to keep both hands in the golf cart at all times and at least 2 of 4 hands on the wheel," says Boland, who was obviously referring to the cart crash in Raleigh. "These carts are just like riding a high speed rollercoaster except for the track. I do admire our golfers who finish cartless and bloody, but we need to be more careful out there."
Bob Morris and Matt Boland sign as the 57th and 58th players to the tournament field. There are 47 days before Round 1.
